Online course, as a new teaching method based on computer and Internet,allows teachers to give classes from a distance away.It is becoming more than popular in colleges and universities,and acts as an effective complement to traditional teaching.

However, opinions on it differ from teachers to students.Generally, teachers support it for two reasons:

Firstly, online course can be conducted at home or office and this offers great convenience to teachers.Secondly, online course releases teachers from repeating the same contents since the video or audio material can be played time and again.

However, many students have opposite standpoints:

In the first place, with online course, they lack face-to-face communications with teachers and their confusion cannot be solved instantly.In addition, the computer system cannot be guaranteed to work stably all the time.What’s more, they do not have 100 percent confidence in their self-discipline without teachers being around to supervise.

Personally, with the college students growing up, if the traditional teaching method and the modern ones like on-line course can be combined together, more fruitful education is sure to be realized.

2Online Courses on Campus

With the development of the Internet and culture, online coures are becoming more and more popular. Nowadays people`s desire for knowledge and mental food is also increasing rapidly. Therefore, it is natural that more and more universities introducing online courses into college education. I believe we can get a lot of benefits from online courses.  

First of all, we can enjoy huge number of course which are shared online not only from our own university but also other ones, even we can get the course lessons from foreign countries. As a English major, it is valuable to get lessons of universities where Einglish is used as mother language. Because of online courses on campus and the development of the Internet, we can get the sharing courses easily when we enter the relevant universities` URL. Also we can get the courses  which are not limited to our major. For Instance, Tom are major in engineer and have interest in English. He usually logins the school website and listens to the English Courses, so that it provides a variety of ways to study and broadens our horizon. 

In addition, it is convenient for us to get online courses no matter when and where we are. Especially when some students cannot have class because of illness or other something urgent, they can have online courses in spare time. Also when some students cannot go to classroom they can listen to class in dormitory or other places. 

They can just logins the school website and enter the specific webpage, then you can listen to the online coures. 

I admit that some universities pay too much attention to online courses but ignore traditional teaching methods, which cause some bad influnce and mistakes. It is no doubt that universities should not give up traditional teaching approaches. However, teaching methods` diversity is also important and online courses have been becoming one of the most important knowledge sources. So universities should take good use of online courses and spread it widely. 

Above all, online courses bring us more information sources and various ways to study. What`s more, it is easy and convenient to get online courses. Therefore, it`s a good thing to a large extent.

3My views on online course on campus

The origin of online course on campus dates back to decades ago in the southern Australia. Due to the limitation of long distance from school to residential districts, online course came to being at that time. Students could accept distance education at home by means of opting for any type of online courses they are interested in. Since then, an increasing number of  schools all over the globe have began to adopt the pattern of online course. Even nowadays quite a few international elite universities also establish some open online courses such as Harvard, Yale, 

Stanford, etc. As far as I am concerned, online course on campus is a decent choice for our education.  

First and foremost,  online course as a new teaching mode makes it differently attractive than the traditional teaching form which is teacher-fronted to a certain extent. Students will not be restricted by time and space and in the meantime they will not be absolutely dominated by their teachers. Students are usually free to select learning materials and regulate their learning process according to their own demands and actual level.  

Second, apart from being wildly available, online courses also possess the traits of  more vivid forms and abundant content. A large amounts of information  resources will provide students a broader learning platform and bring more convenience to their study. The flexibility and interestingness of online course will get students more engaged in learning and enable their knowledge acquisition to be more efficient and effective. 

Last but not least, online course will satisfy individuality demands of students. By the aid of various communication tools, students can report their study situations such as personal learning goals, learning ability, learning effects to their online instructor. Then the instructor will guide students to draw up a suitable learning plan according to each unique personality and propose some feasible and beneficial suggestions. This kind of bilateral interaction will stimulate students’ learning enthusiasm. 

To conclude, the benefits of online courses are conspicuous but there are still some potential problems that deserve our attention. Although the selectivity of  online course is more flexible, it is rather hard to facilitate some students’ study particularly those who are short of initiative. In addition, the design and program of online course are still imperfect and need to be further improved. Therefore, the traditional teaching class cannot be completely substituted by online course.
