Sun Yang who was born on 1st December 1991 in HangzhouZhejiang Province.

He is a Chinese Olympic and world-record-holding distance swimmer.He swam for China at the 2008 Olympics.At the 2010 Asian Gameshe won the men's 1500m freestyle in an Asian Record; this swim and his two other medals at the Games were cited in his being named the Rookie of the Year at the 2010 CCTV Sports Awards.

At the 2011 World ChampionshipsSun broke the world record in the 1500 metre freestyleset by Grant Hackett in 2001 and the longest-held world record in swimming at the time it was brokenand the only men's swimming record to not have been beaten during the tech suit era.He won the 400 m and 1500 m freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympicsbecoming the first Chinese man ever to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming.

At the 2012 Olympicshe was one of two male swimmers to win two individual titlesthe other is Michael Phelps.

Sun Yang born in Hangzhou on Dec 1 1991 is a Chinese swimming star who we Chinese are proud of.

After graduating from Zhejiang University he has concentrated on long-distance freestyle swimming. Besides winning two gold medals in London Olympic Games. he even eventually achieved his goal of becoming champions in men’s 400m 800m and 1500m freestyle events in the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona. At the same time together with his teammates he also won the third place in the men’s 4x200 meters freestyle relay in the Barcelona World Championships.

What’s more Sun Yang was awarded the best male swimmer of 2013 World Championships becoming the first Asian swimmer to win such an award in history.

My favourite swimmer is Sun Yang. He swims very fast. He took part in the last Olympic Games. He is my hero. He is 21 years old. He is very tall. He is 198cm tall. He is cute. I love him。

Sun Yang became the first Chinese male swimmer to earn gold as he won the 400m freestyle with an Olympic record.

Sun overhauled South Korean rival Park Tae-hwan who had been reinstated into the final after being disqualified for a false start in his morning heat.

Defending champion Park had led for most of the race before Sun overtook him just after the final turn and went on to win.

Peter Vander kay was third with Great Britain's David Carry 30 in seventh.

Carry is the oldest member of Team GB's swimming squad and said: "What a feeling. I can't believe it.

"A year ago I set myself the target of reaching the Olympic final. There have been some rocky patches. To have this awesome support behind me was fantastic."

Sun was on world record pace in the final 50 metres and although he narrowly missed out on that mark he did break Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe's Olympic record.
