At this special time of wonderful March in this grand hall of the beautiful campus Our respectable guests are here getting together . Jointly sponsored by China Remote Sensing Association undertaken by Remote Sensing Institution of NUIST at Nanjing the first International Conference on Remote Sensing technology will be open. Now First of all please allow me to give our hearty welcome to all of you present and thank you for your friendly coming. We feel so proud and appreciated as well to be the host of the event.

It is a great honor for us to have all you here to attend this conference of which the theme is the academic exchange about the advanced technologies on RS. Here I’d be delighted to introduce our conventioneers in brief. Apart from our faculty and students Most of the delegates and guests are prestigious experts and scientists who are related in these fields from all over the world. With many significant achievements they are the most dynamic leaders in the movements of the science and technology. As the host I would like to take this opportunity to give you a general introduction about our school. Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology (NUIST) founded in 1960 and renamed from Nanjing Institute of Meteorology in 2004 was designated in 1978 as one of the key institutions of higher learning in China. The university consists of 24 departments or colleges 12 scientific research institutions and one international training center. The university covering an area of 140 hectares with a floor space of 420000 square meters boasts 42 basic and special laboratories such as Key Laboratory of Meteorological Disasters and Sino-American Remote Sensing Laboratory. With a total collection of over 1170000 books the library was listed as one of the most completed literature libraries in China in terms of atmospheric sciences.

For this conference we are following the agenda here. The meeting is supposed to last for three days，and to be separated into two parts. To begin with we’ll invite some representatives from our guests to give lectures about their latest researches and reports on the issue and then we will have some symposiums. During the conference we are pleased to be your guide to this city. If anything needed don’t hesitate to contact us. We believe by our collaboration we are sure to make this gathering a consummation.

Mr President of the Congress distinguished guests ladies and gentlemen:

I am greatly honored to give the opening speech at this International Congress of Biological and medical materials here in NanjingChina. On behalf of the SEUI am delighted to welcome all the scholars and guests from home and abroad. Thank you very much for your participation.

First of all let me to introduce our distinguished guests today: they are Professor Li came from Nanyang Technological University SingaporeProfessor Lin from Southeast UniversityChina and Dr Zhu also from Southeast UniversityChina. Both of them are the leading experts in the area of biological materials and composite materials. They have spent many years to painstaking research and have achieved remarkable results which have important influence in the world.

The development of the research to biological materials and medical materials in the world started in 1949. After nearly 60 years of development we now know that the role of biological materials became increasingly important in national medical industry the research field became increasingly deeply and the number of participants in this area became increasingly large. This conference is launched in an attempt to provide a platform for updating recent ideas approaches innovations and advances on biology material

science and biotechnology in medical applications.

Finally I wish you a nice stay in Nanjing and a safe trip. Now I would like to conclude my speech by declaring the conference open and wishing it a complete success.

With the great support from the leaders experts and higher learning institutions concerned today the long-awaiting ICCAA successfully opens in Shenzhen special economic zone ---- the forward position of China’s opening and reform.

First on behalf of the organization committee and all the teachers and students in the College of Mathematics and Computaional Science Shenzhen University please allow me to give the warmest welcome to you.

Shenzhen is a city which is quite young and full of vitality. Shenzhen University is the first and presently speaking the only one comprehensive university on this land. As a part of SZU the math College has been growing and further developing. However we still can see the great gap in many aspects between our College and those in other universities. The growth of our College needs attention and help from all of you. This time you have come from thousands even ten thousands miles away overcome the troubles the hot summer has brought to you on your trip. We quite appreciate your contribution to our work. And we also see this conference as a good opportunity to learn from you for further improvement. Your efforts will play an important role in the promotion of our work in the future. Therefore on behave of all the teachers and students of Math College; I would like to give our sincere thanks to you.

This is the first time for us to be responsible to hold such a big international conference which is what we have long been looking forward to . Due to the limited conditions our international conference center is under the decoration. So this time we cannot provide a better and more comfortable working environment for you. And we have no rich experience in organizing the conference which may incur some inconvenience. Here we must offer our apologies to you.

“Can’t we feel happy when our friends come from far away?” although our work condition is not so nice and we do not have sufficient experience in management we want you to see our home hospitality. We will employ our energies to provide better service to you. Welcome to give your precious comments to us which can help us to promote our work efficiency for a successful conference.

Among the participants for this conference over 20 foreign friends are from ten countries The United States Germany Britain France Finland Russia Japan South Korea Vietnam and India.Other more than 50 participants are from China.

A Chinese saying goes like this: Only through hundreds of centuries’ efforts in their pre-life could it be possible for people to have the luck to be on the same boat to come across the river in their present life. If say the momentary chance to take the same boat needs hundreds of centuries’ efforts in people’s pre-life can we say that because this time we will be together for 4 days eating at the same table living in the same building exchanging our thoughts and learning from each other this must be the result of thousands of centuries’ efforts in our pre-life? So I hope that all of us can cherish this very precious opportunity to establish long lasting friendship and have a long-term friendly cooperation in all aspects.

I also appreciate all the support given by the leaders from the foreign affairs office of Shenzhen University. I should like to extend our thanks to the leaders of teacher’s SHENZHEN ASSOCIATION FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY who have provided financial aid for this conference. I should also like to extend thanks to Professor C.C. Yang of Hong Kong University of Science Technology who has given great concern and instruction to every detail of the preparation and arrangement of this conference. I also would like to extend our thanks to Mr. Tang Haihai vice director of Education Bureau of Shenzhen. His presence is the great support to our conference.
